For the most part, I agree with you. I always ship way before it’s ready, using my 1–50 rule. SkillUp Academy is still just in alpha but people can already join it.

That being said, the modern day version of the above would be more like ongoing products like Facebook, Amazon store, Windows, etc. These are technically never finished. We’re lucky enough to live in a world where we can create a masterpiece yet still make a living while it’s being created/updated.

I used software as an example, but it can work in art and music as well. And many other things. Patreon, for example, make it possible for anyone to create and get paid in the process of creating a long-term masterpiece.
